At Summerfuel we are particularly proud of our extraordinary program directors, staff and faculty. We believe that strong, nurturing and experienced leadership sets the tone for a successful program. The senior staff consists of a Program Director, Assistant Director and Activities Director. Program Director Alyssa Holan joined Summerfuel in Barcelona in 2007, and teacher American students studying abroad in Sevilla during the academic year. Assistant Director Ben Kaberon joined Summerfuel in Barcelona in 2009, and currently works as an associate director for Summerfuel in New York City.

Resident Advisors (RAs)

RAs are an essential part of the Summerfuel experience and are hired solely to support and act as role models to our students. RAs are college upperclassmen or recent graduates with experience in residential life. They live on each floor, with one RA for every ten students. RAs will always be available to organize activities, provide tours around Barcelona, answer questions and make sure our students get the most out of their summer.

Safety and Supervision

- 1 to 8 student to residential staff ratio
- 24 hour security at residence
- Dormitory only open to Summerfuel in Barcelona students
- 11pm daily curfew
- Zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use

Experience that Counts

At Summerfuel we are particularly proud of our 30 years of experience and our extraordinary program directors, staff and faculty. We believe that strong, nurturing and experienced leadership sets the tone for a successful program. Our senior staff members often return year after year and both they and the Resident Advisors go through a rigorous selection process and pre-program orientation.

Adventures in Barcelona
Every day we’ll offer options from our jam-packed activities calendar, designed by a lifelong resident of the city. From Europe’s largest soccer stadium to the Picasso Museum, Barcelona has more than enough to keep even the most ambitious students busy. The evening activity program will introduce students to different aspects of Spanish culture, including food, film, music, theater and politics.

Exploring Spain
We offer more excursions than any other academic program in Spain, so students can fully experience Spain. You will visit the historic sites of Montserrat, Figueres, and Girona, the beaches of Sitges, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Rosas, and Tossa del Mar, and the Port Aventura Theme Park.
